A longtime attorney in California, John Balent brings more than two decades of experience to his current practice in the city of Brea. Outside of his legal career, John Balent offers his time and efforts to a variety of charities, including the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) organization.
A charitable arm of the Presbyterian Church, PDA coordinates national and international responses to disasters through its network of churches and congregations around the world. In the spring and summer of 2015, PDA initiated a relief and support mission to help the people of Nepal after the devastating earthquakes that struck the region in April and May. According to official estimates, more than a half million homes were destroyed by the quakes, with almost 9,000 people killed.
As part of a larger alliance of relief organizations, PDA has helped deliver food, household equipment, and baby supplies to more than 200,000 individuals in Nepal. Additionally, PDA has focused its efforts on assisting the children of families affected by the quake by constructing temporary schools and supplying teaching and learning materials to teachers and students.
